Classroom sessions will cover – Strategy and tactics for fire suppression operations challenges accessing lithium-ion batteries, let it burn versus put it out, exposure protection, vehicle relocation, off-gassing, thermal runaway, stranded energy. Exposure hazards for first responders and civilians, charging system hazards. Walk-through (no live fire) of techniques for fire fighting principles and practices with hybrid electric vehicles. Response options for vehicle fires with standard engine company equipment. Equipment options available commercially for hybrid/EV responses.
